when we left off i had just received my geography assignment and had gotten 35/40 i believe. OK. so after that every thing went quietly for a while until the 9th of june when our PDH assignments were due. In our PDH assignments we had to create two menus for a made up restaurant of our choice. mine was called new-trition. So original right? Anyway, one menu had to be made up of healthy foods and one made up of unhealthy foods that would never be allowed in your restaurant. Things like deep fried mars bars (unhealthy) and green salad with fresh lettuce, tomato and cucumber (healthy). We handed it in ( me forgetting my sports uniform in the process) and carried on with sports (in my school skirt and shoes). rig
There has been so much going on lately! I’m sorry i haven’t been updating but it is mid-year at school and the tests and assignment have been outrageously fast in coming in and outrageously fast at going out…..so I havent really had time to do anything except assignments and homework and …. of course …. studying. But what have i been studying for?? And plus, what have i been completing?? That is what i have made my task over the holidays. To inform you of how hard my life is… I mean…..how much work i’ve had to do.
My parents keep saying they’ve never had as much work as we’ve had so far and that it’s only going to get worse. So much for support!!
what a day! I went to geography today and we saw our assignments had returned! we were over the moon but we were also really nervous because we all thought we had failed (teens…..:D) and eventually we were called into the classroom single file like. we did all our work during the class as the teacher expected until one of us decided that it wold be a good idea to ask “miss?? miss?? MISS?? MISS?? when are we getting our assignments back?” as expected we had the usual out burst of sommat like….”Don’t badger me because i will give them to you in my own planned time!! I am the teacher and you are not!!” or something like that …..
….. I don’t rightly know as i had my ears blocked. (i don’t think she was going to say planned i think it was supposed to be “my own *d-a-m-m-e-d* time :)) anyway the fateful moment arrived and she went through all the stuff like how to lose marks and to check everything carefully and Blah blah blah…. we wanted our assignments and we were going to get them whether it be the easy way or the hard way. she chose hard. we talked through her and over her and didn’t pay attention until she finally got the drift and just handed them out. I was over the moon!! I mean seriously 35/40 ain’t bad!!
But we’re apparently getting another geography assignment in a few weeks. I hate Yr 7!!
nothing more needs saying. check the last two paragraphs in “round and round the schoolground” for more information.
Today we had the school’s taster day. taster day is when yr 6’s from all different schools come to Hills and try out yr 7. I went to the library today and i couldn’t find a spot to sit for all the yr 6’s milling around. So i went and found Candy (my school best friend) who then told me there were some yr 6’s sitting in our allotted eating space. In our school there are the handball courts in front of the science building. No one goes near them unless they want themselves thwocked with a ball or to play. then there’s the rocks. That was taken at the start of the year by myla and her friends. Myla doesn’t much like me. I stay away from her
We alotted ourselves a small spot just outside of the door in a small outdoor corridor. That got overthrown by people who had thrown their books there and gone to the canteen or to play handball. so we moved around the corner. That, today, got overthrown by next years yr 7 and it probably will do so tommorow as well seeings as there is another taster day tommorow for the other half of next years yr 7. So we were chucked out to do naught but our homework which was rather boring.
that’ll teach me to move faster getting my books
anyway, my music project is now well underway!!
This is the first post that i’ve been able to do @ school and i’m soooo excited because the school has a virus checker and a software for banned sites and i was worried because i thought that maybe it wouldn’t let me on! But it has!! hahahahaha!!!! sorry….but yep i’m fully excited that i can come in here and talk so i will talk more during the day.
right now (1:31 and lunchtime) i’m devoting my time to my music assignment which, i might add mater, has been re-scheduled so it is not due this thursday like i thought…..but thursday week 9 ….. and it is now week 5!!! yipieeeeee!!!!
It is now week six in school. my art assignment and history assignment are due in week 7. i have not started my model and i need to finish the theory of Gauguin. My latin is due on thursday and i haven’t started the main part of that yet either!!. crossing that i have a test on the 6th of june that the teacher said “is worth studying for” along with the in class english test on the 27th of may! In amongst all of this i have a guides camp coming up that is COMPULSORY if i want to go to jamboree which is taking up needed time for assignments. I’ve lost my purse which had inside my bus-pass, 2 library cards and $1.40 and mylife is a general mess (just like my bedroom!! /:() )
you said it Mater! Endless “poss” abilities! The Sydney Symphony Orchestra was a blast. Literally. There was music squeezing into every corner of the room! Luckily fat man on a diet blast’s his music SO loud that i was already used to that level of noise and didn’t bother me that much.
first off. we sat in a bus. i sat next to my boy-friend (boy whose a friend (don’t go getting ideas)) we played spotto and i now have a bruise on my arm where he punched me. We eventually got off in front of a big fancy building. it was white. it was shiny!! It…..wasn’t the one into which we were headed. We were being led along the path instead. We stopped in front of another building. i stared at my feet. This wasn’t the building either because it was no where near as nice as the other and no where near as nice as the Sydney symphony orchestra should have as a headquarters or whatever you wanna call it. So i kept on shuffling forward…..looking at the next big fancy building…..and accidentally ran into a teacher who told me to stop looking at the ground and to keep my head up so they could count us. Then the teacher came back, confirmed that no one was missing and went into the building without a second glance Naturally, we followed. It was magnificent!
There was a room as big as the Town hall (maybe a bit smaller:D) inside this building i rated a “not-worthy-of-a-second-look” and it was spotless. There were rows and rows and rows of chairs. and not hard-backed ones either….soft and comfortable like. i sank intoa chair, my legs glad of the rest, and took a good look at what was underneath me. It took my breath away.
There were Tons of instruments and people sitting below me. I was right up the back
There were around 9-12 violins, 4-5 violas and the same amount of cellos. 3 double bases, a multitude of strange looking percussion instruments, a tuba, 3 trombones, 5 trumpets, 3 bassoons, a bass bassoon (i can’t remember everything!), 3-4 clarinets, 3 flutes, a piccolo, and two oboe’s. It was incredible and they were all tuning! It was horrible!
then the magic began. They began with a piece from tchaikovsky’s nutcracker. It was wonderful if not a little noisy and then they did all sorts of other things Including something by some Australian composer whose name i cant remember and another piece by tchaikovsky (not the nutcracker) and it all was wonderful.
Then the conductor turned to us and said that since we’d been at the back the whole time the last three rows (which included me) could come down and filter in between the players while they played the last piece. I ended up next to the oboe players. There were two oboe’s as said before and There was one girl and one boy. there was a spare seat next to the girl. Before they started the can-can The girl leaned over and asked if i wanted to sit down. i must have looked as uncomfortable as i felt but a gladly sat down and when i looked up at everyone i realised how scary it must be for them because i was nervous just sitting there and they all had to play!
we then went home with another bout of spotto’s and punch buggies and all manner of playful violence and then arrived at school for last period. my arms are sore and i have never been so embarrassed at being on stage when i’m not supposed to be. but it was GREAT!!
Bought some of that lovely whipped cream stuff on Sunday … but in order not to pile on kilos each piece of chocolate cake with whipped cream needs 20 sit ups - getting very good at sit ups, but that’s probably not enough to keep all those kilos off.
Jogging to and from Tae Kwon Do helps a bit more … if only Mater could be bothered to do more jogging on the weekend … or if we repaired enough bikes for us all to go for a ride … or if … well you’ve seen the Dog’s blog … if only …
So “we” (yes that’s the royal we) sit down on Sunday to press on with Latin homework. But first … what else is on the list? … Art (well we spoke about that recently … we have until June to complete that), History (we have til June for that one too), Latin (two weeks for that, but we like Latin - for the time being!), Geography by Monday, Tech by Monday, Maths by Monday. Obviously, let’s press on with Latin … why? … ‘cos Geog, Tech & Maths all “left in school”!
All donations for a wig for Mater will be gratefully received!
(Mater … Thought I’d encourage her along!) It’s difficult to keep up with all this stuff when in addition to school … there’s Guides (and Guides homework, and sometimes Guides activities on the weekend), Tae Kwon Do (twice a week), Musicianship (and Musicianship homework) etc … and of course the constant call of “do nothing” … or worse still “waste time on the computer”. Safe Eyes really constrained this last important activity, but Mathletics stepped in to fill the void.
So with her permission … I’ll occasionally add to this site, as the sk8r girl’s dad does!
i was thinking that i might post some blogs in school when they are happening so’s i dont forget them. Paterfamilias (fat man on a diet) thinks that it’s a good idea so i’m going to try it. see how it works out byesies and talk 2 u in skool……Possom
In my last entry, one to another with UPS, i mentioned an art assignment. I was given this art assignment on March the 7th. I still havent finished it! what i had to do was create a mosaic of a famous painting. i also had to write about it. The writing isn’t done. it needs a teensy bit if work (mum+dad no pestering i will do it soon) and it wont take long. The mosaic i think is done. It looks good (in my eyes.) and i think it will give a pretty good mark.
The work i chose is called Tahitian landscape by Gauguin (gau-GAN) and it is an interesting piece of work but i wont bore you to death like i was forced to be so up, up…. and….. grrr flying shoes stuck…..up, up…. and….. ahhhhh!! awwwwaaaayyyyyy!!!!!!!!
Phew. one assignment is gone! The other day i happened across a certain geography teacher who gladly took in my assignment. What i had to do was take an A3 piece of paper and draw a map of the route to my local shops. As my bestie, ozkenzaaa, would know there is a nearby franklins which i gladly drew a map of. we had three weeks to do this assignment. I did it in the last weekend!
So i handed in my geography and i went about my highschooler duties, mainly moving about classrooms and doing work inside them, when i happen across my history teacher who tells me that she has a surprise for us in our period 4 history class. being my curious self i waited impatiently through my period 3 literacy class until my history class in period 4. i knew that there was something special coming up and it was obvious that others did too as they were hopping up and down as much as i was (a lot). then the time came and i was at the end of my rope! and then i slid all the way back down again.
It was an assessment task. In this one we have to make a model of something they used in Greece or Rome (I’m doing a roman shield or a scutum) and write a report about it and to top it off you have to present it to the class. I’m not a public speaker. I couldn’t do it if i was standing in front of an invisible audience! Then Lunch was called. In our school we don’t have a bell the teachers just wander around calling either “Lunch”, “recess” or “class time” I went to the library. After eating my wrap of course
no food in the library children!! :@!! I sat at a computer and the teacher walked past. “this Block of computers is for homework children only. did you know that?” i took out my assignment and explained that since i had another assignment to do at home (art, next time….) i thought that it would be easier to manage my assignments if i started my History at school. She smiled at me and told me that she wished other children were as clever as me!
I’ts weird how many moods teachers can show huh?
We’ve been looking at the way the site was being presented and decided this theme is better suited to the “Possom Personality Profile”.
We also added some adverts in case they showed something you might like to look at (and of course she gets a couple of cents every time someone *does* look!).
Other than that, nothing to see… yet! It’s time Possom got writing I think. ![]()
Good grief!! One term into school and my life’s half over! I have spent most of my term sitting in Joseph rehearsals. What’s Joseph? The school is putting on a play on the 2nd and 3rd of may called Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat. We (the cast) have been to 17 rehearsals starting on the 6th of February an we still have 4 more to do before the big performances! I feel…..dreadful!
I have this on top of my homework and instrument practice and the knowledge that one of the half day compulsory rehearsals from 12 noon to 6pm is on my BIRTHDAY!! I’m going to try and persuade them to let me be absent on that day so i can celebrate my birthday ![]()
Sorry about the name…..it will be changed! From blog name to smartypants edu:) So eventually this will be the spot where i can tell you all about high school life in Australia. which is really interesting yes? It will get better and there will be more but for now so long, farewell, aufwiedersein and goodbye!
